Personal Effectiveness

I first came across the idea of ‘personal effectiveness’ as a management trainer at British Telecom in the early 90s. The idea that we are each capable of optimising ourselves to perform more effectively (and efficiently) interested me and has continued to do so ever since.  I admit that some aspects of the BT course left me cold, especially the so-called ‘time-management’. But other elements of the programme, such as assertiveness and memory techniques, were liberating and massively increased my own sense of self-worth and efficacy. Twenty Five years later I am still using many of the techniques I learnt whilst delivering that programme.

What I especially like about the concept of personal effectiveness is the assumption we can change how we think, feel and behave in any given situation and that we have control over this. From developing greater assertiveness, to becoming more focused, from decisiveness to motivation, there are techniques and also states – ‘ways of being’ – which enhance our performance and contribution whatever we are engaged in.

If you want to change the way you engage with the world or enhance your impact in a given situation, or maybe just feel more confident, fill in the contact form and make an appointment with me, Harvey Taylor, in Bournemouth, or call me on 07974 228396.
