Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

People with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) have repetitive and persistent thoughts, ideas, images and feelings that seem intrusive and senseless. In addition, you may feel compelled to engage in ritual behaviours in an attempt to prevent the obsessional thoughts and the associated discomfort. Trying to resist the compulsion often triggers further anxiety. Sufferers seek to manage the anxiety by giving in to the obsessive and compulsive behaviours.   If you are having obsessional thoughts and/or engaging in compulsive behaviours which are causing you distress or interfering with your normal way of life you will benefit from seeking help.

Most people who go through this experience already know, at some level, that their obsessive-compulsive behaviour is excessive and unreasonable but they often feel powerless to stop it. Some people even hide the compulsive behaviour from friends and family.

If this sounds like you, fill in the contact form now or call me, Harvey Taylor, on 07974 228396 for an appointment in Bournemouth.
